How Safe is Babyganics Baby Shampoo?

Baby shampoo was one of the first changes I made in switching to natural products in our home.

What I put on my kids skin is high priority. The ingredients need to be safe.

We use Babyganics Baby Shampoo because it’s great safety rating from the EWG (Environmental Work Group). The EWG is the does third party safety testing on all sorts of skincare products and cleaners. The rating system is from 1 to 10, 1 being the safest. The EWG color codes the safety rating, with green being the safest products.
You need a safe baby shampoo to protect your little ones. Babyganics Baby Shampoo is has a green rating – scoring 1 in safety. Which means its rated highest in safety.
After all, what you put on your skin gets absorbed into your bloodstream. I am very picking about what I will use on my children’s skin. And mine. I even make my own soap.

We’ve been using the Fragrance Free version of Babyganics baby shampoo for at least 2 years.

Since I couldn’t find another Babyganics Baby Shampoo review, I knew I needed to create one.

Babyganics Baby Shampoo is my favorite. I love the instant bubbles…. I even make foaming hand soap to mimic the fluffy bubbles in Babyganics. I’m bubbled obsessed.

Life’s easy since I set up subscribe and save for our Babyganics Baby Shampoo. We buy 3 bottles at a time. That means I only need to buy it twice a year and we never run out. One less thing I need to think about. That’s a win in my book!

My Experience with Babyganics Baby Shampoo

I wash my kids hair every other day. Sometimes it’s 3 days between washes.

Babyganics Shampoo washes out all the sticky messes my kids get in their hair.

Can you say taco grease with little pieces of cheese? Yup, I’m always amazed how my 4 year old daughter gets half her taco in her hair. And not just on the ends. On top of her head! In her scalp. Everywhere!

Babyganics shampoo gets the taco grease out with one wash.

I’ve used Babyganics Baby Shampoo on my own hair too. It leaves my hair soft and light. Not weighed down like other shampoos. Babyganics Baby Shampoo is adult approved.

I love the foaming shampoo bottles. My kids like to play with them when they are empty. The put the scraps from an old bar of soap in the bottle and fill it up with water to make their own soap. They feel like they’re creating something and that’s pretty cool in my book. Usually we have two bottles in the tub at once. One for playing with and the other to wash hair with.

Babyganics Shampoo bottles are perfect for storing our DIY baby shampoo when we whip up a batch.

I prefer a fragrance free shampoo because fragrance irritates my asthma. Yet I know my preference puts me in the minority. Most Moms want a fresh scent. If you prefer a scent, Babyganics has an organge blossom scent. So let’s finish up with this Babyganics Baby Shampoo Review by going through the pros and cons.

Pros Of Babyganics Baby Shampoo

    • Gently cleanses hair
    • Use on both hair and body
    • Instant-Foaming soap pump produces lots of fluffy bubbles making washing easy
    • I can suds up my boys hair without getting it wet first, since rinsing hair is a major struggle at bath time
    • High safety rating from the Environmental Working Group
    • Babyganics goes above and beyond with the selection of ingredients and product testing. Every batch gets tested before it leaves the factory. Plus an additional triple check system is in place to ensure safety.
    • Fragrance free option to avoid irritation to sensitive skin or asthma
    • Comes in a scented version if you prefer
    • Plant based ingredients
    • Tear Free
    • Hypoallergenic
    • Contains 5 oils to support healthy baby skin development
    • Easily found on Amazon’s subscribe and save

Cons Of Babyganics Baby Shampoo

    • Not Available in all stores (Its in a few of my local grocery stores, but not all)
    • More expensive than other brands of baby shampoo
    • I do not recommend the scented chamomile verbena Babyganics Baby Shampoo. because it received a cautionary safety rating from the EWG. The unscented version gets the highest safety rating. Orange Blossom comes in at a close 2nd. Bottom Line: Unscented is safest. Orange Blossom is a close second. Skip the Chamomile Verbena scent.
    • Some reviewers report irritation and/or dry skin although we never experienced this
    • It claims to be tear free, yet my children complain when it gets in their eyes. Not like regular soap, but there is still irritation.

Here’s a close up of the back of the bottle so you can check out the ingredients for yourself.

The Bottom Line

Babyganics is my favorite baby shampoo. I do make my own baby shampoo with castile soap. But more often, we buy it.

Babyganics Baby Shampoo is a great product at a reasonable price point for what you get. There are lots of great natural shampoo options out there. Most are more expensive and work as well as Babyganics.

Grab a bottle and get washing. Remember unscented is best, but if you prefer a scent go with Orange Blossom.
